What’s Been Said . . .

Waiting To Be Mended

Waiting To Be Mended . . . is deeply disturbing and indispensably important drama.”—Buzz Bellmont, The Critics’ Critic 3/4/2010

Shakin’ the Blue Flamingo

“So proud of Gwen and her play, Shakin’ the Blue Flamingo! Go see it and you too will walk away with something that will stick with you for a long time.” — Malinda L. Beckham-Cone, Artistic Director, Dirt Dogs Theatre Company, Houston, Texas

To Susan Shofner (Wendye) -“I hear your show is a hit. I’m so glad. Congratulations and good show!” — Charles Bailey, Houston actor

“An engaging show about an older generation of women who are proud of their sexuality, but not necessarily their past. At times funny, touching, and poignant.” — Dan Potter

Jornada del Muerto

An instant relationship develops between these two characters, and by the end, we’re wanting them to stay together. Leaves us wanting more, as all good plays do.” — Robert Lynn, Playwright

There’s More . . .

About Me, but NOT About Me

I grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. I earned a bachelor of arts in political science at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, much to the relief and amazement of friends and family. After a well-deserved celebration of my extraordinary achievement, I reluctantly returned a call to my family. My mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy. I packed my 1968 Cutlass and headed to Houston, Texas. While not an ideal candidate as a caretaker, I was a welcome sight as I pulled into my family’s driveway. I’ve been in Houston ever since.

“My favorite author is Rick Bragg. I like strong coffee. I prefer simple and easy. And I love to write.”

But it’s NOT about me. It’s about my writing and it’s about you as a reader and audience member. I hope you will see yourself or, perhaps, someone you love in the characters I have created. I hope you find the stories intriguing and, perhaps, somewhat comforting. I hope your heart rate quickens and your eyes moisten as you feel the aches and pleasures of these sweet Southern souls.

I’m working on a new story. I think you’ll like it. I’ll keep you posted on the progress. 8/28/2018
